Tekmar supports Kriegers Flak with short turnaround on J-tube Bellmouths

Tekmar Energy (Tekmar), the market leading specialists in Cable Protection Systems for Offshore Windfarms has been awarded a contract to supply it’s Polyurethane J-tube Bellmouths and Cover Disks for the HVAC Transformer Platforms on the 600MW Kriegers Flak project.

Bellmouths are critical components on the subsea end of a J-tube whose purpose are in aiding with the cable installation by reducing the risk of snagging, and ultimately provide the mechanical interface for which the Cable Protection System will lock into.

Tekmar who are the global market leaders for the supply of Cable Protection Systems and the first company of its type to start supplying J-tube Bellmouths, have now supplied over 1,000 similar units for J-tubes across Europe, Asia and USA with the first being installed over 8 years ago.

As the Transformer Platforms will be installed early on the project, Tekmar were required to deliver the bellmouths separately from the Cable Protection Systems and on a very short turnaround. Utilising their state of the art manufacturing facility in the North East of England, Tekmar completed manufacturing early, comfortably meeting the delivery requirements.

The bellmouths were successfully installed in November 2017 onto the Gravity Base Substructures which are being constructed in Ostend Belgium, before being transported to the offshore windfarm site ahead of the cable installation campaign which is currently planned for 2021.
